Mary Detwiler - Principal
I attended St. Leo School and Elk County Catholic H.S. I later received a B.S. in Elementary Education from Villa Maria College in Erie. After seventeen years of teaching, I received my Masters in Education from Duquesne University; certified as both an elementary and secondary principal. I also completed other graduate work at St. Bonaventure and Gannon Universities. I was a classroom teacher for over 25 years and have been a principal for 10 years. I have worked on the Assessment Team for the Diocese of Erie for 15 years. I also currently serve on the Board of Directors for the Elk County Catholic School System.
I'm an avid reader; two of my favorite books are “Nineteen Minutes” and “The Secret Life of Bees”. I also enjoy watching old game shows and classic TV shows. I am the grandmother of three boys: Jack, Dominic, and Theo. I love spending time with my kids (Kristen and Dave) and their families and also with my brother and three sisters. We can have a great time together even if we’re not really doing anything! My passion (after education, of course!) is Penn State Football. There’s nothing better than a Saturday afternoon at Happy Valley!
Life doesn’t get any better than this: principal of SLS.
